Welcome back to HeartBread – the Scripture Memory System that helps you to learn and apply God’s Word, verse by verse. To find out more about HeartBread and to view the other posts in the series, just click here.
It’s my desire that you will not live “on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.” { see Matthew 4:4 }. God’s Word is the HeartBread we all need to feast on and digest regularly.
Each Monday, you’ll find a new verse ready for you to learn by heart and a free printable workbook to help you do just that. Workbooks are available to download and print in both NASB and KJV.
HEAR IT

KNOW IT
LIVE IT
Prayer is an awesome privilege that God has made available to us.
But sometimes, in the overwhelm of life, it can be hard to know what to pray. When we’re exhausted, words don’t come as easily.
In times like this, I use Scripture to find both helpful ways to pray and hopeful words to pray.
Instead of my foggy brain trying to think of things to pray about, I can follow a pattern given in the Word and use it as a blueprint to pour out my heart before the throne.
Jesus gave His disciples a prayer model in Matthew 6.
Hezekiah spread a letter he received from messengers before the Lord and prayed about its contents in 2 Kings 19.
The prayer of Jabez is found in 1 Chronicles 4:10. The prayer of Moses is found in Psalm 90.
And possibly the most applicable prayer we can use as a basis for our own prayers is in Luke 22:42, where Jesus – faced with a trial like no other – surrenders His will to the Father’s, “saying, “Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done.””
This week’s HeartBread verses were selected to be memorized, then used as a basis to pray for others.
Let’s approach God’s throne of grace with confidence in His Word, and let’s ask in the name of Jesus, knowing that He has promised “Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you.” { John 16:23 }

Thanks for your visit & comment, Starla! (I love your name!) 🙂
We sing that one at church each week :). I love the idea of praying scripture over family members.
That’s lovely, Anita 🙂 Thanks so much for sharing!
I’ve had this one memorized for a long time. It’s something m father-in-law says whenever he’s leaving our home, or sometimes hanging up the phone. Thank you for sharing!
That’s great, Barbie! 🙂 What a blessing your father-in-law is, committing you and your family to God each time you part. Beautiful 🙂
Those wonderful words are part of “the blessing song” that we sang to our boys while they were growing up. So important to speak words of blessing into each others lives as believers!
I’ll have to look up that song, Michele, and sing it to my little boy! 🙂 Thanks so much for your visit and comment. May the Lord bless you and keep you 🙂
And you also! One artist who sings it is Michael Card. Hope you can find it!
